Klavon’s Ice Cream Parlor

2801 Penn Ave, Strip District

In 1923 James and Mary Klavon opened Klavon's as an apothecary and ice cream shop. After being a staple in the community, the shop sadly closed in 1979. After about two decades, James and Mary's grandchildren worked together to transform it into a full-service ice cream parlor. They made sure to maintain the store's original features, such as its marble countertops, stainless steel fountain equipment, revolving stools, and wooden phone booths. People of all ages enjoy seeing its unique items, such as apothecary jars and old-time candy counters stocked with penny candy. From 2015 till now, Klavon's has created its own delicious ice cream straight from the traditional creamery.
