MORAINE STATE PARK REGATTA OFFERS A WEEKEND OF FREE FAMILY FUN

The Moraine State Park Regatta is happening August 3rd and 4th on Lake Arthur. The event showcases eco-recreational activities for all ages along the south shore of Lake Arthur. Featuring water and land recreational fun for all ages, nature-themed experiences, and vendors from the local community, the regatta has something for everyone!

DENISE MARTIN APPOINTED PRESIDENT OF PITTSBURGH NORTH REGIONAL CHAMBER

The Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber (PNRC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Denise Martin as its new President. Ms. Martin joined the PNRC as the Director of Partnerships and Development in September 2023 and has significantly contributed to the organization in that time by adding 51 new members in Q4 and increasing sponsorship dollars by 45% over the previous year. “Denise brings a wealth of skills and abilities to her new role, including expertise in sales and marketing, relationship building, event planning and promotion, and program development,” Board Chairman Rakesh Unnithan commented.

Driftwood Oven in Lawrenceville will host their second annual Driftwood Summer Fest on Aug. 3! This celebration partners with Con Alma for music and food and brings in lots of other vendors in this summer party full of food, beer, music and family friendly fun, too.

The Butler Farm Show showcases the county’s farming community at the Farm Show Grounds on Route 68 with farming exhibits, tractor pulls, crafts, rides, food and demonstrations. This event is on August 5th from 8:30 a.m. until 11 p.m.

FOX CHAPEL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT COLIN LAZZARA NAMED WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA POSITIVE ATHLETE

Colin Lazard was selected as the 2024 Western Pennsylvania Boys Alternative Sport Positive Athlete for Unified Bocce.The awards, issued by the Western Pennsylvania Positive Athlete organization, are based on a student-athlete’s character; positive attitude; and ability to lead, encourage, and respect everyone around them. This description perfectly captures Colin’s approach to life, on and off the field. There are two Unified Sports teams at the high school, bocce and track & field, and Colin competed in both. He remained with both teams through his senior year and was named captain of the bocce team in his final year. He also played on the varsity soccer team for all four years, earning many honors along the way. In the fall, the new Fox Chapel area alum will take his talents and leadership skills to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he plans to study electrical engineering and minor in computer science.
