Chatham Baroque: Louis, Louis - Songs & Dances of the French Baroque

Chatham Baroque brings to life French vocal and dance music from the time of Louis XIII and XIV. Featuring Pascale Beaudin (soprano) and an array of superb instrumentalists playing the music of Jean-Baptiste Lully and his predecessors. Show dates and locations:

Handmade Arcade Celebrates 20th Annual Holiday Market

Handmade Arcade will feature over 275 artists, craftspeople, and makers at its 20th annual Holiday Market on Saturday, December 7 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Selected from nearly 500 applicants, the featured makers include established artists, new and emerging artists, and the largest cohort of youth makers yet. This year, over 100 makers will be selling at the Holiday Market for the very first time. “Part of the joy of shopping at the Holiday Market is finding incredibly unique and creative handmade products you can’t find anywhere else,” said Kelsey Ford, Handmade Arcade’s executive director. The 2024 Holiday Market features makers selling a variety of handmade products, including upcycled clothing, innovative artwork, functional and decorative home decor, unique jewelry, and much more. Tickets to attend the 2024 Holiday Market on Saturday, December 7 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. are free, but registration is required. There are also two special paid ticketed opportunities to shop without the crowds and support Handmade Arcade’s year-round support for makers. La Roche University, UPMC Passavant to Present Festival of Lights Event

La Roche University invites the campus and local community to the Festival of Lights, a free holiday celebration presented by UPMC Passavant. This family-friendly event will take place Friday, December 6 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the La Roche campus in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. This free holiday event will feature crafts, food trucks, Santa, fireworks, and more. The Festival of Lights will feature an exciting lineup of holiday activities and entertainment for all ages. “Festival of Lights is a beloved campus tradition, and we’re excited to share it each year with students, alumni, families, and neighbors,” said Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students Colleen Ruefle. “This event is a wonderful way to celebrate the season together, with something for everyone to enjoy.”

The 2024 Sounds of Christmas featuring The Latshaw Pops Orchestra Coming to The Oaks Theater December 8th

The 2024 Sounds of Christmas will be at The Oaks Theatre in Oakmont on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. The 2024 Sounds of Christmas returns to celebrate the Christmas season and show its audience the true meaning of Christmas. Front and center is the Latshaw Pops Orchestra. This variety show features a 22-piece orchestra conducted by Maestro Bruce Lauffer, talented singers, dancers, and a master of ceremonies. St. John’s Lutheran Church of Highland Presents “A Visit to Bethlehem”

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Highland on Cumberland Road in the North Hills will host “A Visit to Bethlehem” on two weekends, December 7, 8, 14, and 15 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Free and open to the public, the indoor event recreates the town of Bethlehem as it may have existed the night Christ was born. New for 2024 is an evening Candlelight Processional Concert on Friday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m., featuring a small orchestra, choirs, bell choir, and narration. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the concert will be followed by a first-time visit through Bethlehem. Tickets for the concert are required and can be reserved by visiting stjohnslutheranchurch.com/events/advent-dinner-and-candlelight-concert. More than 250 St. John’s parishioners have joined together to make “A Visit to Bethlehem” possible, and the event has attracted over 15,000 people since it was first presented over 25 years ago.
