Pennsylvania has some of the most breathtaking wedding venues. From the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh to the Rustic Acres Farm in Volant, there is hardly a shortage of places to say, “I do.” If a fall wedding is in your future, here are some of the best locations to accommodate intimate wedding parties or all-out celebrations with 200-plus guests on your list.
Armstrong Farms
Established in 1816, Armstrong Farms is nestled into the historic town of Saxonburg. Just 22 miles from Pittsburgh, it is an ideal location for weddings and receptions. Couples can choose from two barns on-site for their special day, and each barn affords plenty of privacy with photo-worthy backdrops.
Andy Allen, owner of Armstrong Farms, said wedding parties never have to leave the site for any part of their day. From the ceremony and wedding photos to the bridal party photos, everything is available on site.
“Our wedding weekends feature on-site ceremonies and receptions. This makes logistics easier, not just for our couples, but for their guests, too,” he explained. “Both of our barns combine the best of historical heritage and updated amenities, so there are plenty of spaces to enjoy, both inside and out.”
Armstrong Farms also offers a destination wedding feel without the exorbitant costs. Weekend packages include Friday arrival with checkout on Sunday. “This creates a much more relaxed timeline. You can decorate the day before, enjoy your rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, and wake up Saturday morning refreshed and ready for the big day,” said Allen.
Eden Hall Farm – Chatham University
Whether sustainability is important to your wedding party or you simply favor beautiful surroundings, Eden Hall Farm is another popular local venue. Its green wedding options help reduce the ceremony’s carbon footprint, offering low impact with lasting impressions.
Couples can choose from a variety of settings on the campus to hold their ceremonies and receptions.
• The Hilda M. Willis Amphitheater offers amazing views of the southern pasture and apple orchards.
• The Eden Hall Barn is an iconic part of the campus, affording a rustic look and feel for your celebration.
• The Barazzone Center can accommodate up to 100 guests for those who prefer the comfort of the indoors.
Sustainable dining and the low-impact kitchen are just two of the amenities that attract couples to the venue, said Kelly Mowrey, director of catering for Chatham University and the Eden Hall Farm. “Customizing the menu and using fresh ingredients grown here on our farm is a huge appeal for many couples,” she explained.
Fernstone Retreat, Laurel Highlands
An award-winning wedding venue, Fernstone Retreat spans 450 lush acres and features an on-site waterfall, hand-timbered oak pavilion with seating for up to 250 guests, and a newly added bridal treehouse. Couples can hold both their ceremony and reception on-site and find plenty of places with stunning scenery for wedding photos. Fernstone Retreat can accommodate any style from casual weddings to black-tie affairs.
